Our Story, Mission & Values

Our story

Mareliza, the heart behind The Loving Nature, making natural skincare in our workshop in Wales

The beginning of our journey

The Loving Nature began with our shared passion for natural remedies and healthier living. For Mareliza, that passion started in childhood, learning from her grandmother how plants and herbs could heal. That knowledge stayed with her and was strengthened by her studies in Chemistry, Psychology, and Business, blending traditional wisdom with modern science.

Her background in Psychology also gave her a deep understanding of how emotional well-being connects with physical health, guiding her to create skincare that nurtures not only the body but also the mind through gentle, mindful self-care.

When our youngest son was born and later diagnosed as autistic, our commitment to natural living deepened in a way we had never experienced before. We wanted to give him the gentlest, purest care possible, protecting his sensitive skin and reducing his exposure to harsh chemicals that could overwhelm him.

This led us to look even more closely at every product in our home and to replace them with safer, natural alternatives. From that point onward, everything we used became organic, natural, and handmade with care, a change that supported not only his well-being but also ours as a family. What started as a personal necessity soon became a lifestyle that grew into the heart of The Loving Nature.

Our first product – Outboard Water Pump Impeller Repair Kit for YAMAHA F6 F8 4-Stroke 68T-W0078-00 (Silver Black)

The Loving Nature journey truly began with one product: a natural deodorant. During pregnancy, Mareliza wanted to replace the harsh antiperspirant she had always relied on. Drawing from her grandmother’s wisdom, her scientific training, and deep research into the benefits of plants, herbs, and botanicals, she experimented until she created a gentle, plant-based formula.

She studied how natural starches such as arrowroot and tapioca could absorb moisture, how diatomaceous earth could purify and protect, and how sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) could help neutralise odour safely and effectively. She blended shea butter, cocoa butter, and coconut oil to soften and protect the skin, combined with the starches, sodium bicarbonate, and a touch of vitamin E for nourishment.

Finally, she added carefully chosen essential oils for natural freshness. The result was a deodorant that worked beautifully – long-lasting, nourishing, and kind to the skin. When Julian used it during long, demanding workdays, it proved itself under every condition. It needed only a small amount, left no stains, and performed better than anything we had ever tried before. It was the perfect blend of inherited knowledge, modern science, and respect for nature’s pharmacy.

Our first deodorant became more than a personal solution, it was the spark that inspired The Loving Nature. If we could make something so pure and effective for ourselves, why not share it with others? From this product grew a collection of natural skincare and remedies, each one rooted in the same principles: knowledge passed down through generations, deep respect for the power of nature, and continuous research to ensure safety, purity, and effectiveness.

The Loving Nature is born – a small, family-owned and run natural skincare brand

Founders Julian and Mareliza, partners in life and in creating gentle, handmade skincare

Co-founders with one vision – together, we opened our online shop in March 2017. Mareliza became the hands behind our remedies, carefully formulating every product, while Julian brought his studies and experience in Information Technology, along with skills in marketing and product development. His systems thinking, vision, and dedication gave our small kitchen project the foundation it needed to grow.

From the beginning, we worked side by side, balancing creativity with strategy. With Mareliza as the formulator and Julian as the architect of growth, we built The Loving Nature into a small, family-run natural skincare brand dedicated to honesty, sustainability, and care.

Where we are today – growing with our values

Today, we work alongside trusted UK suppliers, carefully selecting pure, unrefined ingredients. Our cruelty-free organic skincare mission has never changed: to create safe, nourishing products without cheap synthetics, always guided by our values.

Community is now part of our story, too. We are supported by people who share our vision for healthier skincare and a greener planet, and we give back by sharing knowledge, supporting local suppliers, and helping others make small changes that create a big impact. In this article, we explain why we are passionate about creating safer, healthier alternatives, how organic skincare supports long-term skin health, and why so many people are choosing organic products for themselves and their families.

We are committed to providing skincare and hair care that really works. Our products are free from harmful chemicals, and we never compromise on quality or sustainability. Our eco-friendly, sustainable skincare values guide everything we do, from the ingredients we source to the packaging we choose. We want to support healthier lifestyles and a greener planet, and we are always searching for better alternatives to reduce our impact.

As co-founders, we remain fully committed to this mission and will never compromise on quality. Our customers and the wonderful people who made The Loving Nature a reality deserve nothing less.

Our values

Pure organic ingredients

We believe that what goes on your skin should be just as safe and nourishing as the food that goes into your body. That’s why we use only natural, pure, and unrefined ingredients. You won’t find synthetic fillers or unnecessary chemicals in our products, only carefully chosen components that support healthy, balanced skin.

Staying true to our natural and organic skincare mission, every product we make is designed to be both gentle and effective. On our Ingredients page, you’ll find a clear list of what we avoid, along with the natural and organic ingredients we do use to create gentle, skin-friendly formulas. This transparency means you always know exactly what you’re putting on your skin, nothing hidden, nothing unnecessary, just pure goodness.

Sustainable packaging – eco-friendly, plastic-free skincare

We package our products in glass bottles and aluminium tins to preserve product integrity while minimising plastic use and waste. For items that require dispensing, we use glass droppers and durable pumps that include small plastic, rubber, and metal parts. These components are designed for long-term reuse, making them a more sustainable option than single-use packaging.

To further reduce waste, we also give our customers the option to reorder products without pumps or droppers so they can continue reusing the original ones for as long as possible. This reflects our plastic-free skincare packaging promise and our ongoing effort to provide as many plastic-free solutions as possible, helping you minimise waste while still enjoying safe, effective, and eco-friendly products.

Cruelty-free & vegan-friendly

We are committed to making skincare that is natural, safe, and respectful of both people and the planet. All of our products are cruelty-free, we never test on animals and only work with suppliers who share our ethics.

The majority of our range is vegan-friendly, created without animal-derived ingredients. The only exceptions are a few products that contain ethically sourced beeswax. While beeswax is not vegan, the small amount we use is ethically sourced and considered cruelty-free because it is harvested in ways that do not harm bees or colonies. We only source from suppliers who prioritise sustainability and hive welfare, and we always list beeswax clearly in our ingredients so that you can make informed choices.

This reflects our vegan-friendly natural skincare values and our promise to remain honest and transparent in every formulation.

Eco-conscious shipping

We partner with Royal Mail for small parcels. Royal Mail currently operates more than 7,000 electric vans – the largest electric fleet in the UK – all powered by 100% renewable electricity, with plans to expand further as they move toward Net Zero by 2040. For larger packages, we use DPD, which have already achieved 100% carbon-neutral parcel delivery across Europe. These choices reflect our eco-friendly, sustainable skincare values and our goal of reducing emissions throughout our work.

Renewable energy and waste reduction

Our workshop and office run on renewable electricity, ensuring that the energy we use is clean and sustainable. We are committed to minimising waste at every stage of our process, from formulation to shipping. To achieve this, we use recyclable, compostable, and biodegradable packaging materials wherever possible, and we print exclusively on recycled paper to further reduce our footprint.

We also purchase ingredients in bulk, which allows us to cut down on unnecessary transport emissions while ensuring a steady supply of high-quality, natural ingredients. These choices help us stay true to our values and reduce our impact on the planet, while still delivering safe and effective products you can trust.

Transparency

We believe in openness about our sourcing, processes, and principles. Transparency matters to us, and we welcome feedback from our customers to help us improve. See our Editorial & Policies page for our publishing principles, ownership and funding, ethics, diversity, and how we handle feedback and corrections.

Thank you for supporting our small, family-run business – it means the world to us.💚
