Description Product Details The Young Cottager Little Jane of Brading Legh Richmond’s The Young Cottager, first written in the mid-1800s, is the touching and true story of young Jane of Brading, a young lady and a member of the church he served. Jane’s strength of faith even during poor health and multiplied sufferings captured her pastor’s notice, as a marvelous and striking example. Jane, also the first convert of his ministry there, is the subject of this beautifully told story. Chapters of The Young Cottager:  The Student Becomes the Teacher Desiring a Heart Fit for Heaven A Child’s Admittance to the Lord’s Supper A Child’s Wonder at the Love of Jesus A Witness in the Home The Sunshine of Hope and Confidence After that first story, this volume also includes four other short stories, each about the faith of individuals living in very different times than ours: Fanny Graham Little Ruth An abridged version of the well-known story of Mary Jones and her Bible The short story What Must I Do? The Girl’s Heritage Series Other volumes in this collection titled The Girl’s Heritage Series include: The Little Girl’s Treasury of Precious Things Patty’s Curiosity Grace Raymond: The Evil and Cure of a Passionate Temper I Have a Soul The Dairyman’s Daughter First Impressions of God Behind Mr. Bunyan Each is a story of believers living with praise to God in their hearts when they could have complained of their difficult circumstances. About the Author Legh Richmond (1772–1827) was a Church of England clergyman and writer. He is noted for tracts, narratives of conversion that innovated in the relation of stories of the poor and female subjects, and which were subsequently much imitated.  Richmond was also known for an influential collection of letters to his children, powerfully encouraging the evangelizing of youth.  Richmond was strongly influenced by William Wilberforce’s Practical View of Christianity, and took a prominent interest in the British and Foreign Bible Society, The Church Missionary Society, and the London Society for Promoting Christianity Among the Jews.
